Contents include legal documents, correspondence, and ephemera from the 18th to 19th century.
This collection is split into four series. Series 1 contains legal documents, Series 2 contains correspondence, and Series 3 contains ephemera items. The legal documents span from the 18th to 19th centuries, and cover various types of legal cases from over the county. Within the correspondence series, there are letters from individuals who lived during the 19th century. There are a few letters from Union soldiers in the collection, but most of the correspondence are from everyday citizens. The ephemera items within Series 3 span from military orders, song sheets, poems, and other items 19th century individuals. All oversized materials, which include some legal documents and letters, are in Series 4. Items of note in Series 4 include 19th century broadsides.
