Scope and Contents
The Carl Schurz Collection contains documents and materials from his time during the Civil War to his death in 1906. Majority of the collection consists of correspondence from Schurz along with provenance correspondance detailing the collecting of Schurz items from 1999-2001. The contents of this collection range from original 19th century documents, to photocopies of items, and to an original 19th century broadside of one of Schurz's speeches.
