Biographical Note

Dr. Jim Adams was an Associate Professor at Mississippi State University in Instructional Systems and Workforce Development. Prior to his career at MSU, Adams worked in various fields before earning his doctorate from Oklahoma State University in adult and occupational education. His research focused on issues that impacted education and in 2010 he developed a research project to tell the story of school desegregation in Mississipp. Adams interviewed... dozens of former school employees for the project, which ultimately because a book, co-written with his wife Natalie, a Professor at the University of Alabama. The book, Just Trying to Have School: The Struggle for Desegregation in Mississippi, was published by the University of Mississippi Press in 2018. Adams was also a prolific singer songwriter, father, grandfather, and an avid Mississippi State fan. Dr. Adams died on October 8, 2021.
