Christopher "Kit" Harris Williams Family Papers
Scope and Contents
The collection consists primarily of the correspondence (1884¬-1921) of the Christopher Harris ("Kit") Williams family of Yazoo City, Mississippi. The majority of the letters were written by the seven Williams children while attending schools in Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The principal subjects include family affairs, trips to New York City and Washington, D. C., and events at school. Several letters mention Senator John Sharp Williams, brother of C. H. Williams, and include a description of his House of Representatives campaign in 1894. Among the correspondents is Mrs. John Sharp Williams. The collection also contains school report cards and certificates (1904-1916), receipts and household accounts (1894-1926), and miscellany.
