Ella Bardwell Ward Family Papers

The Ella Bardwell Ward family papers include a funeral program, awards and certificates, publications and photographs primarily documenting the life and career of Ella Bardwell Ward (1901-1981). Genealogical and other materials document the Bardwell family including Lena Bardwell Cunningham and other family members. Griffin United Methodist Church materials include a published history (1971) which also includes notes about Bardwell family members, an announcement of a program commemorating the 70th anniversary of the church, and a plaque issued to Lena B. Cunningham from the Griffin Methodist Church Choir, 2002. Scrapbooks include one created by 7th grader Josephine Bardwell consisting of clippings of poems and short children’s columns. A second scrapbook contains primarily pictorial clippings from the Central Christian Advocate, a Methodist periodical, 1953, 1958 and undated. A rare issue of the Henderson Gazette, January 7, 1967, documents W. C. Henderson High School (Starkville, Miss.) and includes “First Semester Grade Averages” for Ella B. Ward Middle Grades School.
