Biographical Note

Abbie Bell Nicholson Red was born on 25 April 1888 to Albert A. Nicholson and Ellen Armentia Deweese Nicholson. Red attended the Industrial Institute and College for the Education of White Girls (now known as Mississippi University for Women). She eventually married Simeon Fletcher Red with whom she had seven children. Red died, aged 86, on 5 January 1975 in Laurel, Mississippi. She is buried in Memorial Park, located in Union, Mississippi.
