Biographical Note

Mary Ella Teasley White was born to Ruth Elizabeth Wells (1888-1963) and Frank Norman Teasley (1886-1964) in Carrol County, Mississippi on 3 June 1913. She married Cecil Dewey White (1910-1984) and had two children: Frank Dewey White (1932-1971) and Ruth White Josey (1936-2017). Over the course of her life, White served as a homemaker. She also enjoyed painting, ceramics, gardening, and reading and was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Starkville, Mississippi. White died on 19 June 2008 and is buried in Palestine Cemetery, located in Montpelier, Clay County, Mississippi.

The scrapbook has been kept intact. All loose materials have been enclosed in a singular acid-free folder in the order in which they were received.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

This collection was donated to the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library by Brenda White Hilliard in July 2020. After appraisal, it was relocated to Mississippi State University Libraries in July 2020.

No further accruals are expected.

Preservation Note

The scrapbook has been enclosed in an archival-quality manuscript box. It may need further processing as the scrapbook is not archival quality. The loose materials have been enclosed in the same box and are stored in an archival-quality folder. A singular loose news clipping was photocopied onto acid-free paper. There is one loose photograph, which has been interleaved with acid-free, photo-safe paper.
