Leslie Hall Papers
Scope and Contents
Deeds, wills, other legal papers, receipts, marriage certification and record of births and deaths. Papers concern the land acquisitions, land sales and estates of Nancy F. Davis (b. 1798-ca. 1869), widow of John P. Davis Sr. (d. 1845) and her children: James P. (b. 1820); Martha Davis Turner (b. 1825); Thomas G. (b. 1833); Rebecca Gayerre; and Jeannette Davis Hall (1828-1905), wife of Farar A. Hall (d. 1875), metal manufacturer of Kosciusko and Atlanta. The papers also document the lots owned by Farar A. Hall and his metal manufacturing business on Peters Street in Atlanta, Georgia, all bequeathed to his son William W. Hall.

Biographical Note
Nancy F. Davis was born in 1798 in South Carolina. She married John P. Davis Sr. (d. 1845), a veteran of the War of 1812, and together they had: James P. (b. 1820); Martha Davis Turner (b. 1825); Thomas G. (b. 1833); Rebecca Gayerre; and Jeannette Davis Hall (1828-1905. As a widow, Nancy F. Davis owned lots and kept a hotel in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She died in about 1869 in Kosiusko, MS.
John P. Davis Sr. served as a private in Captain Fielder’s Company of the South Carolina Militia in the War of 1812. Source: Federal land records.
Farar A. Hall, husband of Jeannette Davis Hall, had a metal manufacturing business on Peters Street in Atlanta, Georgia, all bequeathed to his son William W. Hall. The elder Hall died in 1875.
