Scope and Content
Ten Civil War letters of the Wier family of Lowndes and Oktibbeha Counties, Mississippi, including: Five letters of James Benson Wier (1832-1863), surgeon, possibly of the 2nd Tennessee Infantry (Ashby's Company A) from Tennessee and Mississippi; two 1864 letters from Thomas C. Wier (1827-1920), a Chaplain with the 27th Mississippi Regiment, Company B, from Atlanta, Georgia; one civilian letter, probably of Mary Elizabeth Wier of Columbus, Mississippi, to her sister; letter of Abby Wier to William W. Wier, 1861; letter of William W. Wier to Dabney S. Wier, 1862 . Subjects include the Civil War and Wier family history.
