Lucius Marion “Luke" Lampton, M.D., Historic Image Collection
Scope and Content
The Lucius Marion Lampton, MD Collection is composed of postcards and photographs documenting a wide variety of areas of American history but focusing on Mississippi cities, towns, counties, politics, and culture. Notable subjects include the cotton and lumber industries as they developed in Mississippi, the Mississippi Gulf Coast region, US Navy ships and activities, and portraits and postcards featuring African Americans. The Lampton Collection was donated by Dr. Lucius M. “Luke” Lampton of Magnolia, Miss., in honor of Judy Kirkpatrick, Fred C. Smith, Clyde Cullen Lott, and Dorothy Crawford Lott.
