Mrs. Albert L. Horn Collection
Scope and Content
Correspondence of the Hunter family of Talbot and Heard Counties, Georgia, Randolph County, Alabama, and Choctaw, Scott, and Chickasaw Counties, Mississippi. Includes 40 Civil War letters, mostly civilian, but a few give soldiers' accounts of Confederate military campaigns. Also included in the addition to the collection are photocopies of the Hunter family letters from the microfilm, together with transcriptions, research material and notes made by James R. Atkinson as a part of the work of transcription. Microfilm copy made in 1958 from originals in the possession of Mrs. Albert L. Horn, Houston, Mississippi. Addition: Ledgers from the W.R. Davis General Merchandise Store, as well as cash books from an unidentified firm in Houston, Mississippi. Addition: Four photographic prints of persons connected to the 15th Confederate Infantry, Company B, and/or letters in the collection: Robert Gray, Baldwyn Witson "Whit" Hunter, Pinson Calvin (PC or Pint) Hunter, and Augustus E. "Gus" Morgan, circa 1861-1865 and undated.
