Scope and Content
This series contains materials from George Neal McIlhenny's father, Dr. George Allen McIlhenny. It is divided into seven sub-series: Sub-Series A: Correspondence contains a letter detaling his appointment as County Commissioner, as well as other personal correspondence and is organized by author. Sub-Series B: Printed Materials has programs and brochures from his time on the Know Mississippi Better Train. Sub-Series C: Tallabogue and Untookalo Anti-Drainage District Association contains materials from that association, including correspondence, minutes, membership applications, financial records, and maps of the drainage area that they were concerned with. This sub-series is arranged by subject and then in ascending chronological order. Sub-Series D: Scrapbooks contains George Allen McIlhenny's personal scrapbook, both bound and unbound pages. Sub-Series E: Financials includes a ledger that contains medical accounts from his denstistry business. Sub-Series F: Miscellaneous contains accounts from the Scott County Register pertaining to the McIlhenny family and newspaper clippings, as well as other miscellaneous printed materials. It is organized by type of document and then in ascending chronological order. Sub-Series G: Books contains photocopies of title pages and annotations from books owned by George Allen McIlhenny and is arranged in ascending chronological order. The inclusive dates for this series are 1848-1937.
