Series 2 contains documents, including a postmaster certificate signed by President James Monroe (1823), a Canadian land grant certificate for James Tighe, Civil War-era tax documents, parole of William Carmichael at Vicksburg (1863), an annual report of the Mississippi State Blind Institute (1872), a notebook diary kept by John C. Williams during the yellow fever epidemic in Dry Grove (1878), an invitation to a ball in Dry Grove (1883), state senator certificate for W. D. Carmichael (1890s), a cure for horse colic (1893), memorabilia from Whitworth College in Brookhaven (1897 and undated), wedding invitations, sharecropping and tenant farming contracts (1894-1901), land deeds, tax receipts (1880s-1900s), supply lists, genealogy materials, newspaper clippings, poetry, holiday and greeting cards, church cards, and other items.
