Scope and Content

The collection contains a historical and political scrapbook with political notes for Governor James K. Vardaman, Senator Leroy Percy, Governor Theodore G. Bilbo, Senator James Gordon, and other political figures. Subjects include state supreme court decisions, state and national senatorial elections, politics related to WWI, Mississippi political spats, state politics, the trial of Senator Hobbs, political corruption, political demagoguery, the Spanish-American War fund, and, poet James Whitcomb Riley.

Biographical Note

Lena Bell Clayton Anderson was born to W. L. Clayton and Agnes Bell in 1863 in Mooresville, Mississippi. She married Mississippi State Supreme Court Justice W. D. Anderson on January 27, 1886. She died in Tennessee on October 29, 1919.
