This series is arranged chronologically and alphabetically by congressperson’s last name within the chronological arrangement. The dates include 1948-1988.

The Congressional Correspondence Series contains Stennis’ correspondence with members of the United States Senate and United States House of Representatives, and associates of both Houses, including chaplains, secretaries and the House of Representatives Doorkeeper.

Letters dealing with co-sponsorship of bills have been transferred to the Legislation Series. However, other correspondence dealing with legislative affairs have been retained in the Congressional Correspondence Series.

Researchers should be aware that other correspondence between Stennis and his colleagues is scattered throughout the various series of the Stennis Collection.
