Scope and Content

The transcript contains a typed transcript of Henry Smith Adam’s prewar book, his wartime diary, and his wartime letters from 1862. The transcript also contains a genealogical history of both the Adams’ and Beauchamp’s family history, and a record of Henry and Mary Adams trip to Colorado.

Henry Smith Adams War Diary, 1863

Scope and Content

His military diary began on April 11, 1863. In the diary Adams kept track of the weather and his daily events in the army. He also described his recovery from his eye wound and his time as a nurse in a hospital after his recovery. There are large gaps between July 10-November 21, 1863, and December 7-9th, 15-18th 1863.
