Scope and Content

This series contains original nineteenth century correspondence. The J.B. Lewis letter is undated but appears to be from the Civil War. The letter in Folder 3 was written from Chattanooga during the siege of that city. The letter in folder 9 is unsigned and undated but is at least from the 1880s. Metal clips have been replaced with plastic ones throughout the series.
