Memoirs: Sherman Family
Scope and Content
This series contains several typescripts of first-hand accounts of William Tecumseh Sherman and his campaigns. Folder 47 contains an account by Charles E. Benton titled “As Seen from the Ranks.” Folder 51 contains typed copies of several letters regarding Sherman and a group of letters concerning Hugh Ewing. A map of the Vicksburg campaign is also in this folder. Folder 55 contains “At Home with a Bumblebee: The Private Life of General Sherman” as told by Eleanor Sherman Fitch to Lloyd Lewis. Folder 56 contains “Reminiscences of Early Days” by P. Tecumseh Sherman, and folder 59 contains the “Address of General Thomas Ewing at the Centennial Celebration at Marietta, Ohio, July 15th, 1888 of the Settlement of the Northwest Territory.”
