Scope and Content
This series contains the main subject files for Lewis’ work. Photocopies of various nineteenth century newspaper articles relating to Grant are contained throughout the series. Drawer 3, folders 20 and 21 contain maps of the Wilderness Campaign. drawer 3, folder 10 contains typescripts of the “Curtenius Diary” and the diary of “Pvt Hy Chapel F., 1st IL Arty and Pvt. S.C. Fairchild, 1st IL Arty.” drawer 3 Folder 24 contains an unpublished article entitled “Joseph Russell Jones” by James Harrison Wilson. Metal paper clips were replaced with plastic clips throughout the series.
