It is arranged in three series: Correspondence and Ephemera; Photographs, and Scrapbooks. The first two series have additional Sub-Series that break the material down into specific types which are then arranged either chronologically or alphabetically by topic.

Note

This is an engraving print of a young Lt. Grant with JDG's handwriting on back. The print was made from an old daguerreotype taken just after he left West Point. JDG wanted to put it in her book at the place where she first met Grant.
