This collection consists of fourteen boxes of correspondence, ephemera, photographs, and scrapbooks related to Ulysses S. Grant, Julia Dent Grant, their acquaintances, and family members. It is arranged in five series: Correspondence and Ephemera; Photographs, Scrapbooks, oversized, and Addition I. The first two series have additional Sub-Series that break the material down into specific types which are then arranged either chronologically or alphabetically by topic. Series V: Addition I contains materials donated by Grant family members in 2025. These materials came through the family of USG and JDG's youngest son Jesse R. Grant (Jr.).

Note

Grant wrote this note to the future president of the United States close to his death. He asked the future president to admit his grandson USGIII to West Point. Undersigned by William Sherman and later undersigned by William McKinley, president in 1898.
