Scope and Contents
This collection contains legal documents, correspondence, and other papers from Abraham Lincoln and members of the Lincoln family.It spans from his life as a lawyer to his presidency, and continues after his death in 1865 with other written items from his family.
The collection is split into five series. Series 1 contains legal documents from Abraham Lincoln's time practicing law, and Series 2 are some of his correspondence from 1852-1865. Series 3 and series 4 contain materials from the Lincoln family. All oversized materials are in Series 5. Oversized materials include a legal document and items from President Lincoln's life as a boy, a lawyer, a judge, and as a political candidate.
