Scope and Content

From the Collection:

This collection includes an assortment of letters, newspaper clippings and personal documents spanning from 1870 to 1916. Most of the collection is focused on the period between 1914-1916. Several of the newspapers, include articles related to Reams’s passing. Some letters are addressed to Richard Hoxie after Ream’s death. Several of the letters have been printed while most are handwritten.

Iowa City, Iowa 710- S. Lucas St. July 6th/ 1914

Dear Sir, Your letter of June [?] was duly received- We are now at our summer house, and it would not be convenient to send you the work you refer to. We return to Washington about the first week of November and if you will then re mind me of the promise I will send you the book. [page 1 end] I would be glad to have the copy of the article you referred to and of your [usual work?] [?] would be [?] to have your [?] my Studio where I am now making a statue of “Sequoyah” which Oklahoma will send to the national Capitol- Before I left I sent also to the Capitol [page 2 end] a statue in bronze of war-Governor Kirkwood which Iowa had or- [?] for [trial?] [?] Very truly yours Vinnie Reams Hoxie My Washington address is 1632 K Street [?] 17th v K Farragut Square
