Letters and military papers of Merry B. Harris, a Confederate officer who headed the Pettus Relief Company of Mississippi Volunteers during the Civil War. Included are the rules and regulations of the Pettus Relief and a letter dated December 22, 1860, which describes conditions in South Carolina following its secession from the U.S. Facsimiles and other copies.

Letter of John S. West from Iuka, Mississippi, to his brother and sister, February 22, 1862. West, a 16-year old soldier, was killed 10 days later.

27 typescript letters of Lieutenant William H. Young of the 5th Mississippi Cavalry Regiment, Company B, to his wife in Carroll County, Mississippi, from Grenada, Greenwood, North Mississippi, and Camp Chase, Ohio, 1862-1865. Young died in prison in 1865.
