Scope and Contents

Included are papers relating to Craig's education at Syracuse University and forestry career, 1933-1980's, including correspondence, speeches, appointment books, publications, a history of Forestry Suppliers, Inc., and materials concerning the Mississippi Forestry Association, the Forest Farmer Association, the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum and Foundation and other organizations. Among the collected forest history materials are early logging and camp pictures and materials concerning Lamb-Fish Lumber Company. Also included are extensive research materials concerning the Craig family and related lines, together with unpublished genealogies and histories.

Biographical Note

James W. Craig, forester, founder of Forestry Suppliers, Inc., Jackson, Mississippi, historian and genealogist, was a native of Panola County, MS. he earned a BS in Forestry from Purdue University in 1936 and a Masters from the New York State College of Forestry at Syracuse in 1938. Craig was State Forester of Mississippi from 1952-1955.
